I’m A Burning Man?

TheGnomeDude a music connoisseur

This morning I strolled over to Captain Blowdri’s rather massive music collection in the crib. It appears to be a bookshelf that houses all of his eclectic music CD collection.

While I was climbing around on this books shelf I was browsing though some of the CD titles and artists housed therein. The musical artists were wide and varied! I found items from a Beatle CD collection, ZZ Top, Billy Joel, Simon and Garfunkel, to Alabama, Alan Jackson, Joe Diffey, Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, The Eagles, Frank Sinatra, and everything between all these artists!

I then accessed his iTunes account and browsed my way through all of the music that he has installed on his iPod and iPhone. I was astounded that he has loaded up 2055 tunes on his iPod! It says that it would take 5.6 days of non-stop listening to hear the music selection on his iPod!

DUDE!

I am reasonably sure that he still does not have all of his CD collection uploaded into his iTunes account so that number could be significantly more.

I was looking at one particular tune in his collection that I had not heard before. So I clicked on a tune that features this Dirks Bentley dude and two dudes known as The Brothers Osborne entitled “Burning Man”. I was not familiar with much music that emanates from the country music genre. So I thought that at my age, older than dirt and born in the previous millennium, it was time to spread my wings and explore something besides 60’s and 70’s rock music!

As I clicked on play button the melody sounded, almost instantly that got my blood going, my foot began a tapping, and then I began to listen to the lyrics closely. This tune could have easily been released in the rock n roll side of the music industry!

Having grown up and lived most of my hippie-gnome-live in the SF Bay Area, North Baker Beach, and the Haight district, I was somewhat familiar with a festival named “Burning Man”. I have heard tales and suspected the goings on, but I have never participated in the that event in any shape, fashion, or form.

Notwithstanding that point, I played that song over and over and over again. I began to listen more closely and began to understand these lyrics. Man, the lyrics really began to talk to this old hippie gnome! I realized that when it is all said and done, I am easily a “burning man”!

Below are the lyrics to this catchy little tune. It would appear that an elderly hippie dude, a child of the 60’s, a fellow Haight-Ashbury dude, must have penned this song, because the lyrics are so apropos to someone who has a checkered past like this old Hippie Gnome Dude!

Check it out, man, and see if this tune does something for you, dude!

Burning Man

Half your life you struggle
Half your life you fly
Half your life makin’ trouble
Half your life makin’ it right
One day I’m the exception
Most days I’m just like most
Some days I’m headed in the right direction
And some days I ain’t even closeI’m a little bit steady but still little bit rollin’ stone
I’m a little bit heaven but still a little bit flesh-and-bone
Little found, little don’t-know-where-I-am
I’m a little bit holy water but still a little bit burning man
Burning man yeahI always loved the highway
I just don’t run it as fast
I still go wherever the wind blows me
But I always find my way back
I still don’t get it right sometimes
I just don’t get it as wrong
I still go a little bit crazy sometimes
Yeah, but now I don’t stay near as longI’m a little bit steady but still little bit rollin’ stone
I’m a little bit heaven but still a little bit flesh-and-bone
Little found, little don’t-know-where-I-am
I’m a little bit holy water but still a little bit burning man
Burning man
Still just a burn, burn, burning man
Just a burning man, uhMaybe I’ll go to the desert
Find myself in the Joshua Tree
If we pass in the night then just hand me a light
And tell me you burned just like meI’m a little bit steady but still little bit rollin’ stone
I’m a little bit heaven but still a little bit flesh-and-bone
Little found, little don’t-know-where-I-am
I’m a little bit holy water but still a little bit burning man
Burning man
Still just a burn, burn, burning man
Just a burning manUh uh
Burning man

(PS JT Osborne really shreds the guitar it at the end of this song!)

Peace, Love, and Harmony Dude!
